Joëlle Affolter

I was born on January 23, 1985 in Bern and grew up in Kehrsatz, a suburb of Bern. After getting my French Matura in Biel, I started studying History and Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Bern and now am in my 8th semester. From very early age on, I have always loved to travel and have always been very interested in foreign cultures. That’s why I took part in an AFS- intercultural exchange program and spent one year in Paraguay. My studies triggered off my last trips to the Maghreb and the Middle East.

I was born on November 22, 1986 in Bern as third child of five. In my youth I was very much interested in sports and books. Thanks to my parents who loved to travel, I very early got the chance to see the world. That’s how I developed my interest in politics and foreign cultures. After my Matura, I spent some time in Palestine, traveled through Eastern Europe, spent some months in South America and another two months in Israel and Palestine. For the time being, I am a student in Political Sciences and in my second semester at the University of Bern.
