Lukas Wegmüller

Travelling and visiting the world has always been one of the most important things in my life and I still love to get to know new cultures and people. Together with a friend I organized a study trip to Israel and the Palestinian Territories in 2008. A year later I joint the IFIL board as Co-Head of Intercultural Project Coaching because I was facinated by the idea and the projects of IFIL. I am holding a Bachelor degree in Political Science and History from the University of Bern and I lived and worked in the Middle East for several months in the Year 2007 and 2012. At the moment I am studying European Studies at the University of Basel and currently I am Co-Chairman of the IFIL Executive Board.

I actually learned to love living abroad and discovering the daily life of another country by travelling through Australia for almost one year. During my Bachelor in politics, social science and history in Berne I concentrated more and more on topics like international relations, global governance and the European integration with the aim of working in an international domain later on. 2010 I had the chance of getting a one-year traineeship in an office for European research in Brussels. It was an exciting year living and working in the heart of the European Union, enjoying the international environment and learning more about the institutions and the system of the EU. I’m currently doing my Master in European Studies at the University of Fribourg, after which I hope to get to work again abroad for a longer time.
