Kosovo 11.08.2013 - 20.08.2013
Dana Landau
Dana grew up in Zurich and was always interested in international peace and conflict, which led her to study for a BA in ‘War Studies’ in London. When she first came to Kosovo in 2009 for an internship with a local NGO Dana knew almost nothing about the country, but she quickly became intrigued by the many Swiss flags and the sound of the Albanian language. Dana stayed in Pristina to work for the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and after her Masters in Oxford she returned to work for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Dana clearly still finds Kosovo very fascinating, since she is now writing her PhD about it. Based in the UK, she travels regularly to Switzerland and Kosovo. Dana is excited about the opportunity to share the things she discovered about this small but wondrous place with others on an IFIL trip!
Okan Uzun
Okan was born and raised in a small town in northern Switzerland (Brugg). With a Swiss-Turkish background, he has been fascinated from early on by the challenges and opportunities that arise wherever different cultures meet. Through travelling extensively and especially while working towards a BA in international relations in Geneva, Okan has developed a strong interest in Balkan affairs, most notably the territorial issues that arose from the collapse of former Yougoslavia. To that end, he also completed an internship at the Swiss Embassy in Pristina in late 2012. Having acquired comprehensive knowledge about Kosovo, its history, its politics and its people, Okan wishes to give others the opportunity to explore a country that has a lot more to offer than what are often perceived as the usual culprits of different societal issues in Switzerland.
