Sight-Seeing tour

Visit of the port and visit of the neighboring regions, especially those close to the Spanish enclaves Ceuta and Melilla where every year thousands of people try to get to Europe; meeting with a member of a Spanish NGO involved with migration.

Visit of the parliament and talk with a politician about Morocco’s current political agenda as well as the origins of political stability and visit of the royal gardens.

Meeting with a diplomat in charge of the diplomatic relations with Algeria and discussion about Morocco`s and Algeria’s position in the territorial issue of the Sahara and visit of the medina and historical sites (depending on the participant’s wishes).

Guided tour of the city and visit of Sidi Harazem (warm source of mineral water known for its curative effects).

Tour of the city, meeting with a representative of the leather artisanry: discussion about the development and challenges of the regional artisans and visit of Volubilis (archeological site of roman vestiges, UNESCO world heritage); in the evening: departure to Casablanca where you will get to know your host family and spend the night there.

Morning and midday spent in the host family and sight-seeing tour of Casablanca with a visit of the famous Hassan II Mosque.

Visit of the economically strategic places of Casablanca and meeting with a professor of Islamic science: discussion about the role of Islamic religion in the Moroccan society.

Meeting with a professor of political science: discussion about the impact of political upheavals of the “Arab spring” on Moroccan society and politics & meeting with a representative of a local NGO involved with woman’s rights: discussion about their work and her view of the relation between feminism and Islamic religion

Meeting with a member of an NGO for children’s rights, visit of historical sites of the city (depending on the participant’s wishes), the souqs and goodbye dinner at the Jamaa el Fna place.
